  1. Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces with an even thickness. Lightly season with salt, pepper and katakuriko.

  7. Soak the onion roots from Step 2 in water, and you can grow your own. Change the water daily.
  8. Here are the roots from Step 7, about ten days later. There is enough to use in 2 - 3 servings of miso soup.
